Tulum has a special paradise-like charm that fascinates its visitors, and induces them into a total relaxation state, generating a particular style that has been replicated within Mexico and around the world.

When this project was commissioned, we studied the reasons why Tulum is so special, and identified that its due to the integration of elements such as the exuberant vegetation of the jungle, the turquoise water, the white sand, and the traditional elements of the Mexican culture, with a contemporary touch that re-interprets these elements and provides a glamorous, stress-free environment, in harmony with the environment.

The concept behind

We wanted Eden Tulum to become a special project within this already special context, so we designed under the concept "lost in paradise" integrating and maximizing the positive elements of Tulum, providing identity, promoting relaxation, maintaining the sensorial contact with vegetation and water, without losing the comfort of everyday life.

Our focus was to design a project that could connect with authentic persons that seek experiences that resonate with their lifestyles, especially for the temporary visitors who will be provided with all the comfort needed to enjoy a short beach stay, or for those who have a nomad lifestyle and rather work from any place, people who love animals and want to share their experiences with their pets, and who live in a healthy way, that are conscious of the art and beauty, that celebrate diversity, appreciate details, and above all, that value quality over quantity.

We will facilitate them to discover in Tulum something, that will generate a sense of belonging throughout the discovery of a personal paradise for their enjoinment.

Architectural design

The architectural complex integrates 120 units, distributed in four terraced levels that are placed surrounding the social park, respecting and favoring the endemic vegetation, integrating relaxation modules, open-air gyms, a common pool, among others.

The architectural design recovers traditional elements from traditional Mexican architecture, especially the colonial portals found in several central squares of the communities located within the Yucatan Peninsula, adapting such typology into a more contemporary context that maximizes the conceptual experience for the user.

Commerce

The commercial area is devoted to promoting a pleasurable experience, that is why the commerce was carefully selected, incorporating an area that integrates the local artisans, promoting fair trade and a solidary economy.

It will also host a boutique pet hotel and spa, an eco-friendly laundry, a gastro-bar, organic food shops, a yoga studio, and an art gallery among others, promoting an immersive and sustainable experience.

Additionally, we promote the community integration and convivial areas for the city, through the incorporation of small public squares, where the public can relax and enjoy the particular Tulum sense of place.

The experience

ART AS A CONCEPT

We believe that art expresses emotions and transforms the spaces that we inhabit, providing color, emotions, creativity, and new sensations into our everyday life. This is why the project integrates art not only as mere decoration but as an essential part of the development, integrating it with the landscape and the architecture, starting from the sculptural access that serves as a portal where the visitor begins a transition into a new dimension.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

In addition, we integrated sustainable design elements to generate the least possible impact on the environment and encourage a positive social and economic impact. The main strategies implemented to follow a design and management approach that applies edge technology to promote a reduction in energy use and implements the use of local innovative materials such as blocks made of seaweed, the use, and treatment of water throw-out the life of the development.

PET FRIENDLY SPACE

Lastly, the architectural design includes adequate spaces for the pets, especially dogs and cats, for whom spaces are not generally designed, still, we consider their integration important for a pleasurable life, so we provided amenities and interior spaces designed for their comfort and the comfort of their owners.
